The global NGV fuel market is developing at an extremely fast pace – the fleet of LPG (gas-balloon vehicles) running on natural gas in the world is increasing annually by an average of 20%. In 2012, the number of vehicles using natural gas almost equaled the number of vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
It is predicted that the trend of advanced development of the gas segment of the global car market will continue. Consumption of natural gas as a motor fuel, according to ExxonMobil, may grow by 17-32% by 2020, up to 40-45 billion cubic meters.
Today in Russia there is a huge potential for the use of cars on gas fuel. Although natural gas prices in Russia are also increasing in line with OAO Gazprom's concept of bringing domestic prices to the level of exports, fuel oil prices significantly exceed the cost of CNG and make its use economically viable.
