Butane production in Europe declined in 2009 due to a decrease in refinery utilization, but since 2010 it has begun to increase, which is expected to continue until 2015.
The leading exporters of butanes are the Middle East and Africa, which together supply more than 61% of the global volume to the world market.
From 2007 to 2011, imports of butane to Russia in tons by main recipients grew 14 times, and in monetary terms – 25 times. Many importers made purchases for the first time in 2011.
World production of butanes in 2010 was estimated at 50.3 million tons. The leading producers of butanes are the countries of the Middle East (26% of the world volume) and, first of all, – Saudi Arabia.
