Development of titanium production of the Chepetsk Mechanical Plant

In 2008-2009 ChMP's proceeds from titanium production did not exceed 40 million rubles.

Industrial Information Agency's 2008 and 2009 Titanium Pipe Market Research

- showed the potential of import substitution - over 90% of titanium pipes used in Russia were supplied from other countries

- revealed requirements for titanium pipes by consumption segments.

ChMP management decided to modernize and expand the capacity for the production of cold-rolled seamless titanium pipes.

In July and September 2010, ChMP together with TVEL-Invest-Technology CJSC ChMZ won tenders for the supply of titanium pipes from alloy PT-7M for OKBM "Afrikantov".

In 2010-2012. carried out technical re-equipment of production:

- for the smelting of titanium alloys, vacuum-arc furnaces have been modernized,

- new equipment purchased,

- a new equipment for the forging complex has been developed, which optimizes the technology of forging ingots.

In 2011:

- mastered smelting of own titanium ingots,

- manufactured and delivered products for the company «GrandisTitanium»,

- expanded nomenclature of alloys, smelted titanium ingots,

- deliveries of titanium pipes to OKBM "Afrikantov" have begun,

- for research, development and technological work,

19 million rubles were allocated for the organization and development of titanium production

In 2012:

- the first major contract with a foreign customer was completed,

- ingot smelting technology was developed and new product ranges from titanium alloys were mastered

according to customer requirements,

- a pilot batch of new products (finned tubes) was produced for research at FSUE PROMETEY and OKBM Afrikantov OJSC.

In 2013 ChMP entered the market of shipbuilding/ship repair enterprises:

- new specifications have been developed,

- products are supplied to the industry consumer with the acceptance of the Maritime Register,

- the results of commission tests at the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Central Research Institute of KM "Prometheus" were approved cold-formed titanium tubes,

pipes with spiral ribs, rods made of PT-3V alloy.

In 2013, revenue from titanium pipes amounted to 211 million rubles, having increased by 5.5 times over 4 years.
