SUEK is the leading coal producer in Russia and one of the largest coal companies in the world.

In 2010, by order of SUEK, the Industrial Information Agency conducted a study of the Russian and world markets for briquetted brown coal - briquettes from brown coal.

The study assessed the scale and potential of the market, identified promotion issues and development constraints.

Based on the information received, in 2011, a briquette-industrial production line was installed by SUEK at the Berezovsky open-pit mine.

In 2012, thanks to SUEK's investments, Berezovka coal miners managed to improve the quality characteristics of their products and increase the productivity of the line: the line's productivity was increased to two tons of briquetted coal per hour, it was possible to improve the strength characteristics of briquettes and reduce the mass fraction of useless impurities to a minimum.

During 2012, the Berezovsky mine produced 1350 tons of briquettes from brown coal semi-coke, trial batches of the briquettes were shipped to potential consumers - Metalex LLC (Novotroitsk), JSC "Serov Ferroalloy Plant" and OOO "SGMK-Ferroalloys" (Novokuznetsk).

After a few "test" months, the first positive feedback on the use of coke briquettes was received.

In 2016, the technology for the production of briquettes from brown coal semi-coke was tested using new types of binder, which provides high strength and quality characteristics of briquettes.
